Swedish for immigrants (SFI)
SFI is Swedish for beginners. You study the Swedish language and learn how to read, write, speak and understand Swedish. Taking an SFI course will enable you to feel part of Swedish society more quickly. This will allow you to progress to further study or get a job.
We have various SFI courses for you to choose from, depending on your background and your goals. Our SFI course is centred on you. Your requirements, your abilities and your needs. You study at the pace and in the way that suits you. We work together to design a study plan that is unique to you.
About the course
Swedish for immigrants, or SFI, is a course that is designed based around your needs. There are three different SFI study paths. You take the study path that is best suited to your educational background and your study goals. You work at your own pace according to your personal study plan.
Study path 1 (SFI courses A and B)
For people who have a limited or no education (0–5 years) from their home country, are unable to read or write and/or are not familiar with the Latin alphabet.
Study path 2 (SFI courses B and C)
For people who have a basic education (6–9 years) from their home country.
Study path 3 (SFI courses C and D)
For people who have the equivalent of an upper secondary education or higher (10 years or more) from their home country.
Our SFI courses have firm links with the world of work from an early stage, for example through internships. When you are on an internship at a Swedish workplace, it gives you the opportunity to speak lots of Swedish and gain an insight into Swedish working life and culture. You establish contact with an employer and have the chance to show them what you can do.
We also give you the tools you need to start looking for a job. We help you with your CV and covering letters.
At Eductus you get to study in close contact with both teachers and other students. Lessons alternate between lectures, digital studies and private study. We offer courses during the day and in the evenings – times may vary depending on location and school. Get in touch with our contact in your area for further information.
You can combine SFI courses with basic adult education courses, intermediate adult education courses, an internship, a job or other occupation.
